Learn To Be is a super supportive community that allows students and tutors to establish strong, mutual connections. As a tutor, while watching my students progress little by little, I‘ve noticed that I'm also adapting and improving my teaching methods according to each student through interactive sessions. Additionally, after exchanging teaching experiences and feedback with Learn To Be's community support lead, I am inspired to foster a more encouraging teaching environment through communication and collaboration.

I love working with kids, and helping them! It is so rewarding to see them succeed.

Tutoring with Learn To Be has been such a rewarding experience. Watching my students' confidence grow—seeing that ‘aha!’ moment when something clicks—is the best feeling. The flexibility of the platform makes it easy to fit tutoring into my schedule, but more importantly, it allows me to build real connections with my students. My favorite thing about Learn To Be would have to be the wide variety of learning resources that us tutors can use to help the students catch a better understanding of the materials they need help with. I personally take advantage of the IXLlearning tool to help create lessons and practice questions that can build upon whatever my student needs help on. The learning recourses are easily accessible and there are so many of them. This makes it easy to select a few that will enhance the tutoring process. Thank you so much for that!

My favorite thing about LTB is having the opportunity to help people from underserved communities. Everyone deserves an education, and LTB understands this. Being able to get a student to finally understand fractions, differentiate between various math operations, or improve their reading so they can understand passages even slightly better is what LTB is all about, and I’m here for it. My experience as a tutor since I was in 10th grade definitely changed who I am. Being able to tutor helped me to understand others better and to see others in a different perspective. I love Learn To Be because I love to help others learn! As someone who has experience with struggling throughout school who didn't really have someone at home to help me, this is such a great, free resource that everyone should know about!

Learn to Be has increased my confidence in my skill and ability to teach others. It has also allowed me to get to know people and families and build relationships with them. LTB has taught me the skill of learning and being able to teach others, which is something I believe is necessary to know. I also feel proud of myself and have a sense of accomplishment when my student understands a topic, and it challenges me to become a better teacher and explain things in a way so they will understand.

I have been tutoring for LearnToBe for nearly a year now and I would like to say that this program is amazing for not just the students but also the tutor's themselves. This past year, I have noticed a serious progression in several of my student's skills. Specifically, I have tutored more in math. My student started rough without a strong foundation in math lacking knowledge in areas such as computation or understanding negative numbers. In my journey with him, we have not only solidified such foundations but also improved upon them and added new concepts. Working with him on a weekly basis allows me to do a weekly recap on what occurs in class and what Is upcoming regarding assessment of his knowledge. I prepare him by checking his current understanding of what they are teaching him and preparing him for the rest of the topics in his unit. I think tools that are provided by LearnToBe such as the IXL subscription and Exercises have an impact. One moment that stood out to me, was when his parent reached out to me thanking me for my dedication, and stating that his teacher had noticed the impact of my tutoring in the classroom environment. Overall, I would say that the LearnToBe tutoring program has a significant effect on children's learning and tutor's teaching skills.

Learn to Be is an amazing organization, and joining it has been one of the highlights of my year. As someone who always had access to quality education, it brings me so much joy to be able to see my students light up and understand one concept after another.

My favorite thing about Learn To Be is being granted the chance to alter the way students think about school. There have been many times throughout elementary, middle, and high school that I have doubted my ability to do things, that I wasn't smart enough, or I simply had no interest in the content. Now that I am in college I have acquired skills that truly make learning and studying easier! For all my math haters I understand you because I failed pre algebra my freshman year of high school and here I am in university with 100% on my calculus final. Anything is possible!!!

His ELA grade has improved tremendously, going from an F to a high C, and he’s even started reading for fun, something we never expected. As a tutor, I really like Learn To Be's mission to make education more universal and how well the whole program is developed. I have been volunteering at Learn To Be for close to an year now. I have to say that helping other kids and fellow students with their academics has been so rewarding for me in many ways. The best tutoring available. I love the fact that my daughter is working with older students. Her confidence level has increased ten fold.

One of my students had been working so hard for the past months to understand the concept of counting and especially the larger numbers. Last session something just clicked and she just went off saying all these numbers and finally comprehending all of the strategies I gave her to use! I was really proud of her and now she has graduated on to addition and is already doing so well!

I recently had a middle-school student who could multiply beautifully but could not divide at all. This student expressed fear and helplessness about division. I briefly explained the connection between multiplication and division. The student sat for a moment, then said "Ohhh-h-h...I get it!!!" From that very instant, the student was able to do any basic division problem correctly!

This is a great summer school program alternative for K-12. I will definitely recommend it to other parents.

My favorite part about Learn To Be is how flexible the hours are. Since tutors can volunteer from home and decide on their tutoring hours, Learn To Be makes getting volunteer hours extremely easy and efficient.

My daughter struggled with Math and Chemistry during her junior year and was almost failing both classes. She tried to find a tutor at her school but had no luck. I searched the internet and found Learn To Be. I was hesitant at first but was very fortunate to find tutors like Corey Saines and Ana Constanza Sanchez. My daughter had the best experiences with her Math tutor, Mr. Corey. Although it was difficult to find a good chemistry tutor, she finally found Ms. Ana. Learn To Be allows me, a high school junior, to make a positive contribution to the lives of so many other young people. The sense of fulfillment I receive from seeing children begin to love learning is unparalleled, and I'm so thankful to LTB for making that happen.

Finding Learn to be was a huge win and a great blessing for our daughter. My kid hates and I mean absolutely despised math. She would do anything to get out of it. She was hovering between a D and F in math on any given day in her grade book. I can’t really afford the high priced tutoring programs and thought I was failing my daughter because I couldn’t afford the three thousand dollar tuition fee for the other tutoring programs. I chose the highest amount to pay as my donation because realistically how much would I have been paying? Learn To Be is an incredible meaningful way to volunteer your time; tutoring is rewarding, engaging, and frequently pushes you out of your comfort zone. The facilities Learn To Be offers (selection of students, scheduling including automated time zone adjustment, texting via an independent number, Zoom) make it easy to have an effective, online learning relationship. I had a really great experience getting to know my student and communicating with him the best ways we could learn reading together. There were frustrating moments when I could not think of a way to help him understand certain grammatical rules, but the whole experience was a learning process, and I think I learned a lot more from him than he did from me. I don't usually have the opportunity to speak to younger kids in an academic setting, so talking with my student 1:1 really gave me a lot of joy and pride for the progress we made in his reading.

I've honestly been avoiding writing this because I haven't been exactly sure how to put into words how much I've loved every minute I've spent with Learn To Be. I am relatively new to the Learn To Be team, I joined a little over a month ago, but I have already had such an amazing experience. I am currently tutoring one student and I am so proud of him. We’ve really bonded and I’m already starting to see improvement as well as a new excitement for learning and I’ve seen him start to take initiative which has been so rewarding for me to watch. It has been amazing to watch him go from shy and somewhat unmotivated to fun and even taking initiative in his learning at such a young age. I have learned so much about both teaching and learning, patience and fun. I tell anyone who will listen about Learn To Be. I’ve really developed a passion for these kids, and it makes me so sad to see how many kids aren’t matched with a tutor. I wish I could tutor every one of them because I firmly believe that each and every child needs and deserves a quality education regardless of any circumstances. They are our future! If you are considering joining the Learn To Be team, I can only tell you amazing things. Everyone is so helpful and kind and it has been wonderful to not only connect with my student, but with other tutors as well! Thank you Learn To Be for being so much more than I expected, so much more than some service hours for NHS, and giving me a place to get outside of myself and do something meaningful. It is truly amazing to know that there is a platform that supports sharing knowledge with no price attached. Learn To Be offers a form of communication that inspires connections across the world. It has been an honor to tutor with Learn To Be, and I am so happy they've given me the opportunity to share my education experience with those who may not have access to it. Not only has it given me the outlet to share my passion of learning with others, but it's also given me the chance to show kids that learning has no limits. It's not always an in-person experience. It can be just as fun through the screen. It proves that there are no boundaries to education and anybody who wants to learn can, no matter the circumstance. Learn To Be has impacted me by giving insight on others’ situation and showing how privileged I am to be able to help other students. It also helps me interact with students from different backgrounds and perspectives, which ultimately leaves me learning as well!

I've enjoyed being a volunteer tutor for the Learn To Be program for several years now, with over 200 hours of tutoring to my credit, and I am truly thankful for this great opportunity. What makes Learn to Be a really top-notch organization, in my opinion, is that it is run very efficiently, is abundantly capable of helping out both the tutor and the tutee to achieve maximum results, and allows tutors to choose students who would make excellent matches (instead of assigning random students to the tutors and just hope for the best). Because of the very professional way in which Learn to Be is organized, I have found it very easy to contact promising student matches and to set up Zoom meetings with them, with the knowledge that Learn to Be will have my back with sound advice or tutoring materials in case problems arise. I very much enjoyed being a tutor for Learn To Be. I found a high school student who was taking College Algebra without having taken Algebra 2. She needed a lot of help but was very committed to understanding the subject. Having been retired from teaching for over 13 years, I was occasionally challenged to remember some obscure topics. We were both very happy that she passed the course with a B.

Being able to be apart of the learning, growth, and cultivation of potential is the most rewarding experience. Learn To Be means learning to be patient, understanding, and motivated to create an impact. Tutoring for this organization has become as crucial in my development, as well as for my student. My name is Harvey Brodsky. I am a retired teacher. Learn To Be has been a tremendous asset in two ways. Firstly it allows students to access help in subject(s) that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to receive. It is such a wonderful event when a student states that he or she realizes that they understand something that alluded them in a crowded classroom. They not only get help in their schoolwork, but also in gaining confidence in their hidden abilities. Secondly, the tutor receives as much as the student. It is so true that the gift giver receives at least as much as the recipient. I feel so thankful that Learn To Be has allowed me to conveniently participate in over 300 hours of tutoring that have made me feel both valuable and joyful.

It is super satisfying to see the progress my student has made -- all of the math problems she can solve today that she couldn't solve when we started working together. But the best thing is that she can see the progress, too!

I've only had one with this student so far BUT I can already tell she is so so eager to learn and she is super engaged and it feels like even though it's the first one that we've already formed a great little bond!!

Franklin really sounded like he was improving his math skills and sounded more excited than before when he understood and had the right answers.

She has improved so much with reading out loud and understanding what is going on in the story. She also has started asking questions when she doesn't understand something which is great.

The student is a brilliant kid who just needs some extra attention. The potential is great and he is very willing.

Around this same time last year, I was working with my 1st grade student on spelling. We had been spelling out a certain word for a while , and he was starting to become exasperated. Disappointingly, he asked me, "Do you think I am a bad student?" It pained me to hear him ask that question, and I quickly reassured him that I had never once heard of a bad student. Every day, I was proud of him because he not only came in ready to learn, but he taught me new things every day. That moment strengthened my relationship with my student and awakened me to the deeper aspects of tutoring.

Tutor is very patient with my son and encourages him even if he gets it wrong he doesn't feel bad he understands why he got it wrong and works harder to get it right to impress his tutor. They act like buddies and I couldn't be more happy to find a tutor as kind and patient as Noah.

I just want to give you a thank you for everything you do with this organization. I met, Marcus, the young kid I tutor in reading over a year ago. It has truly been such an awesome experience witnessing a child struggle with reading and then now come to love it and call it his favorite class. I truly enjoy my experience with LTB.
