My favorite thing about Learn To Be is being granted the chance to alter the way students think about school. There have been many times throughout elementary, middle, and high school that I have doubted my ability to do things, that I wasn't smart enough, or I simply had no interest in the content. Now that I am in college I have acquired skills that truly make learning and studying easier! For all my math haters I understand you because I failed pre algebra my freshman year of high school and here I am in university with 100% on my calculus final. Anything is possible!!!

Hollen Aulds was a true gem for my daughter Adriana and we appreciate the time that she has spent providing her tutoring services. It's important to note that she was much more than a tutor because she was such an inspiration; Kind, intelligent, understanding, patient, and became a close friend in my daughter's eyes. We are so grateful for the incredible work LearnToBe has done with my son, King, in both ELA and Math. His ELA grade has improved tremendously, going from an F to a high C, and he’s even started reading for fun, something we never expected. The tutors have played such a pivotal role in helping him get promoted to 4th grade after retesting. We can’t thank them enough for their dedication and support. He now checks out books from his school library to take AR tests, and I would love for you to continue helping him with those during your sessions. In Math, King has also made noticeable strides. As a tutor, I really like Learn To Be's mission to make education more universal and how well the whole program is developed. The interface is so clean and easy to follow and I'm able to connect with students for as long as I choose and can make a difference for them, especially for those who don't have all the means to get tutoring in other circumstances. My favorite thing about Learn To Be is that I can make a difference for students. Though tutoring is a job for many, I think that volunteer tutoring (when affordable) is overwhelmingly more rewarding than costly. I have been volunteering at Learn To Be for close to an year now. I have to say that helping other kids and fellow students with their academics has been so rewarding for me in many ways. It is so satisfying to help someone with their lessons and see the progress they are making. It helped me be more empathetic and teaching someone helped reinforce my own concepts since I had to prepare in advance for the learning sessions. Also, it improved my communication skills and become organized with my routine. Most of all, teaching/helping someone has a personal touch to it. And, forming the relationship with your student is in itself very rewarding. Learn to Be is really helpful for kids, Its helpful for everyday learning and sharing knowledge between students, prevents learning loss especially in summer, LTB makes students productive, its kind of win win strategy for both senior grade student and learner. One of my students had been working so hard for the past months to understand the concept of counting and especially the larger numbers. Last session something just clicked and she just went off saying all these numbers and finally comprehending all of the strategies I gave her to use! I was really proud of her and now she has graduated on to addition and is already doing so well!
I recently had a middle-school student who could multiply beautifully but could not divide at all. This student expressed fear and helplessness about division. I briefly explained the connection between multiplication and division. The student sat for a moment, then said "Ohhh-h-h...I get it!!!" From that very instant, the student was able to do any basic division problem correctly!
This is a great summer school program alternative for K-12. I will definitely recommend it to other parents.
My favorite part about Learn To Be is how flexible the hours are. Since tutors can volunteer from home and decide on their tutoring hours, Learn To Be makes getting volunteer hours extremely easy and efficient.

My daughter struggled with Math and Chemistry during her junior year and was almost failing both classes. She tried to find a tutor at her school but had no luck. I searched the internet and found Learn To Be. I was hesitant at first but was very fortunate to find tutors like Corey Saines and Ana Constanza Sanchez. My daughter had the best experiences with her Math tutor, Mr. Corey. Although it was difficult to find a good chemistry tutor, she finally found Ms. Ana. I am grateful for Learn To Be because of the tutoring services my daughter was able to improve an entire letter grade, almost two. I couldn't be more grateful for such amazing tutors.

Finding Learn to be was a huge win and a great blessing for our daughter. My kid hates and I mean absolutely despised math. She would do anything to get out of it. She was hovering between a D and F in math on any given day in her grade book. I can’t really afford the high priced tutoring programs and thought I was failing my daughter because I couldn’t afford the three thousand dollar tuition fee for the other tutoring programs. Then we found learn to be and her tutor Faven has turned that all around. I don’t even need to remind her of her sessions she’s ready and waiting. I chose the highest amount to pay as my donation because realistically how much would I have been paying? This program and Faven exciting my daughter about math have been the main reason she brought her grade from the bottom all the way to finishing her 5th grade year at a B+. My son has been working with his tutor for over a year and his tutor is awesome. He takes his time with my son and really makes sure he understands what he is supposed to be learning. The tutor has been very consistent with our appointments. He also uses their time wisely and makes sure they stay on task during sessions. Sofia- my first and current student- helped me fall in love with teaching and mentorship. I had a really great experience getting to know my student and communicating with him the best ways we could learn reading together. There were frustrating moments when I could not think of a way to help him understand certain grammatical rules, but the whole experience was a learning process, and I think I learned a lot more from him than he did from me. I don't usually have the opportunity to speak to younger kids in an academic setting, so talking with my student 1:1 really gave me a lot of joy and pride for the progress we made in his reading.

I've honestly been avoiding writing this because I haven't been exactly sure how to put into words how much I've loved every minute I've spent with Learn To Be. I am relatively new to the Learn To Be team, I joined a little over a month ago, but I have already had such an amazing experience. I am currently tutoring one student and I am so proud of him. What makes Learn to Be a really top-notch organization, in my opinion, is that it is run very efficiently, is abundantly capable of helping out both the tutor and the tutee to achieve maximum results, and allows tutors to choose students who would make excellent matches (instead of assigning random students to the tutors and just hope for the best). My name is Harvey Brodsky. I am a retired teacher. Learn To Be has been a tremendous asset in two ways. Firstly it allows students to access help in subject(s) that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to receive. It is such a wonderful event when a student states that he or she realizes that they understand something that alluded them in a crowded classroom. They not only get help in their schoolwork, but also in gaining confidence in their hidden abilities. Secondly, the tutor receives as much as the student. It is so true that the gift giver receives at least as much as the recipient. I feel so thankful that Learn To Be has allowed me to conveniently participate in over 300 hours of tutoring that have made me feel both valuable and joyful.
It is super satisfying to see the progress my student has made -- all of the math problems she can solve today that she couldn't solve when we started working together. But the best thing is that she can see the progress, too!

Around this same time last year, I was working with my 1st grade student on spelling. We had been spelling out a certain word for a while , and he was starting to become exasperated. Disappointingly, he asked me, "Do you think I am a bad student?" It pained me to hear him ask that question, and I quickly reassured him that I had never once heard of a bad student. Every day, I was proud of him because he not only came in ready to learn, but he taught me new things every day. That moment strengthened my relationship with my student and awakened me to the deeper aspects of tutoring.
Tutor is very patient with my son and encourages him even if he gets it wrong he doesn't feel bad he understands why he got it wrong and works harder to get it right to impress his tutor. They act like buddies and I couldn't be more happy to find a tutor as kind and patient as Noah.

It has truly been such an awesome experience witnessing a child struggle with reading and then now come to love it and call it his favorite class. I truly enjoy my experience with LTB.
