My favorite thing about Learn To Be is how it transcends the typical tutoring experience. Although I began volunteering as a tutor with Learn To Be only in March 2024, the journey has been incredibly fulfilling. In just a few days, I'll have reached 100 hours of tutoring, and each session has reinforced why I value this organization so much. What I love most is how we, as tutors, have the freedom to adapt our teaching methods to fit each student's individual needs. This flexibility allows us to develop personalized strategies that truly resonate with each learner, rather than adhering to a rigid schedule. This individualized approach has been instrumental in helping students who have diverse strengths and challenges. My decision to join Learn To Be was influenced by my own experiences as a student, where I often felt that conventional tutoring methods didn't quite meet my needs. I wanted to offer a different kind of support—one that acknowledges and adapts to each student's distinct learning style. At Learn To Be, I’ve had the opportunity to do just that, making each session not just a learning experience but a chance for personal growth and connection with the students. The impact of this personalized approach has been distinct, both for the students and for me as a tutor. It’s incredibly rewarding to see students thrive and gain confidence in their abilities, knowing that I’ve contributed to their learning journey in a meaningful way.

4 out of 10 students can't read this sentence.

But you can help. Closing this achievement gap begins with your support. When we teach kids to read, they don't just get to enjoy Harry Potter. They start to do better in math and science as well. They graduate from high school more frequently. They're able to read the application for that job they want. They gain confidence and dignity. They learn about the world about them. And they get to be a part of changing that world for the better.
