The Elf and the Bow

In a far-off land, there lived a wee elf. This elf had a bow, and could shoot it far and high. One day, the elf saw a bird up in a tree. "I'll try to hit that bird," said the elf.

The elf pulled back the bow. Zip! The elf let the arrow fly. But, oh no! The bird saw the elf and flew off. The arrow did not hit the bird. It fell down to the ground.

The elf felt sad. "I'll try again," said the elf. The elf pulled back the bow once more. Zip! This time, the arrow hit a big and fat bug. The elf was not happy. "I need to get that bird!" said the elf.

The elf tried and tried, but could not hit the bird. The bird just flew too fast. At last, the elf gave up. "I can't get that bird," said the elf. But the elf did not give up. The elf will try again some day!
