Please describe your student and why you qualify for tutoring.
Alexander is an awesome, creative, sweet 12 year old kid who loves gaming and social media. He also loves to cook. He has so many possibilities but currently he is struggling in school with multiple subjects. Alex has had an IEP since 1st grade and has been diagnosed with ADHD. He is the oldest child in our home but not of all the kids we have. There is also a 7 year old in the house who has autism and a toddler who is 19 months old. I'm not sure how this impacts him.
My current work / parenting obligations with a toddler and a special needs child really cuts into my time with Alexander and as a result I can't efficiently help him stop struggling.
What are your greatest hopes for your student?
That he will be able to get to grade level and feel inspired by learning. I want him to have confidence in his ability to perform and to learn. I want to help him become more confident.
What are you most grateful for?
My family and having the ability to help them succeed in life.
Please describe specifically what your student needs help with.
He needs a lot of help in the subjects - reading and math.
His reading ability according to his most recent evaluation is showing that Alexander is reading comfortably at a 4th grade level. He can read and comprehend at a 5th grade level but he is currently in 7th grade. He needs help with reading comprehension and being able to recite back the facts about what he read on a 7th grade level.
Regarding mathematics we (parents) are very concerned here. Alex is showing weakness in fractions and decimals. He is unable to answer question correctly which indicate to us that he is not understanding the fundamentals - the processes required to solve the problems. He often shows confusion on which method to take to solve a problem.
More than anything my son needs an understanding, creative and enthusiastic person to help him get it. We know that he can do it with the RIGHT help.
I hope this all makes sense. If you need any further information please feel free to reach out and contact me.
According to the student, how can we make the world a better place?

What is the student's favorite book?
