Please describe your student and why you qualify for tutoring.
Neyyir is a kind, quiet, and patient girl who is struggling in Calculus class. Her rigorous course workload from other classes makes it very difficult to allot homework/studytime at home for each course. Because it is her senior year, it is crucial that she passes her Calculus class, or else she is at risk of not graduating on time, which is very important and would greatly hinder her college experience. Even though she has difficulty understand the topic, she really loves working with math and hope to be a statistician in the future. She is the youngest child of three children, two older sisters (19, and 21) who are both in college themseleves and find little time to help tutor Neyyir. I am a single mother with a high school education and don't know much about Calculus, so I also can't help her very much even though I try my best. I am so happy that I found this program and am willing to provide her with what she needs to study hard and pass the class.
What are your greatest hopes for your student?
I wish to see her go to college like her sisters and succeed in passing the class with flying colors. I also would love to see her keep her love for math, and not have it ruined by her difficulty with Calculus this year.
What are you most grateful for?
I am most grateful for my three beautiful children.
Please describe specifically what your student needs help with.
My daughter enrolled in an AP Calculus class, and has lots of difficulty keeping track of the curriculum. It's too late to unenroll from the class, and I don't want her doing poorly for the rest of the year. Right now she needs assistance with calculating derivatives of functions using different methods like Chain Rule, Implicit Differentiation, etc, but will change onto more complex topics as the year progresses.
According to the student, how can we make the world a better place?
Hold the judgement and practice compassion.
What is the student's favorite book?
The Book Thief
What does the student want to 'learn to be' when they grow up?
A helpful, reliable person.
