Please describe your student and why you qualify for tutoring.
We are a Hispanic immigrant family with two children. One of them is a sophomore in college and he is the first one in the family to attend college. Emily, is our second child and she attends 9th grade. We have tremendous hopes that she will succeed in life too. The one income family situation makes it very hard to accomplish all needed training after school, like sports, music and math.


What are you most grateful for?
To see that my kids are healthy in body and soul. That they are respectful to others and they are committed to face all the challenges ahead.


Please describe specifically what your student needs help with.
State Assessment for 2017 gave Emily a Standard Nearly Met (level 2) in Mathematics. The score decreased from last year. Concepts and Procedures and Communicating Reasoning were the weak areas. The test was based on 8th grade Math. Emily has started dropping grade letters and is now in C- in the 9th grade.


According to the student, how can we make the world a better place?
By helping those that struggle with basic needs and giving them an education. Also being peaceful with one another and respecting one another.


What is the student's favorite book?
I don't read a lot but The Outsiders is a very nice and realistic novel.
